Jim Muncie

After a career as a director of creative photography in the auto industry, my wife and I moved to the Traverse City area in 2005. To continue to exercise a life-long creative energy, I turned to woodworking as a hobby.

Initially, I began learning the craft by replicating 18th century American furniture and utilitarian accessories for the reproduction period home we built. Once all the voids in the home were filled with large pieces, I turned to concentration on smaller items, mostly boxes and various containers.

I enjoy the challenge of incorporation the creative elements of design with the natural beauty of domestic hardwoods and pulling it together via various adaptions of joinery techniques.
